Driving Inclusive Growth & Quality Lives for All Botswana

The UDC’s 2024 agenda is bold, focused, and urgent. These are the key national priorities that will define our leadership and transform Botswana:

1. Job Creation & Economic Reform

  • Create 450,000 – 500,000 new jobs across diverse sectors

  • Build an economy capable of P10,000+ average salaries

  • Boost SMEs through fair access to funding and local sector funds

  • Attract P100 billion annually in local and foreign investment

2. Green Economy & Innovation

  • Position Botswana as a solar and renewable energy leader

  • Drive green jobs through public-private partnerships

  • Invest in R&D and Indigenous knowledge systems

  • Create “megacompanies” in non-mining exports and new industries

3. Youth Empowerment & Education

  • Raise tertiary student allowances to P2,500/month

  • Launch National Community Service with monthly stipends

  • Support the creative economy (arts, media, fashion, tech)

  • Offer free sanitary pads for all girls in public schools

4. Healthcare & Social Protection

  • Implement universal health insurance

  • Increase old age pension to P1,800/month

  • Ensure affordable power, water, and internet access

  • Improve public healthcare systems and rural access

5. Infrastructure & National Development

  • Construct over 100,000 houses in 5 years

  • Develop a fast-train network, smart cities, and mega-airports

  • Transform Botswana into a regional transport and trade hub

6. Governance, Justice & Democracy

  • Draft a new Constitution to dismantle dictatorship

  • Reform the judiciary, restore checks and balances

  • Implement electoral reform for proportional representation

7. Regional Integration & Strategic Partnerships

  • Leverage the Africa Free Trade Agreement for growth

  • Strengthen collaboration with neighbouring countries

  • Form smart partnerships with global innovation leaders
